Haven’t you updated Windows 11? Microsoft will already do this for you

by time news

Microsoft has already released several major updates to the Windows 11 system, some of which are designed to close security holes and fix various bugs, but not all of them have made the latest updates. According to Microsoft this is going to change, at least for those stuck on version 21H1 which was released about a year and a half ago.

From now on, the Windows 11 system will no longer ask the user if he wants to update to the latest version 22H2 that was recently released, but it will do it automatically. This will apply to all Windows 11 users running version 21H2, excluding certain computers that Microsoft will block ahead of time due to compatibility issues.

“Today we’re starting to automatically update consumer and unmanaged devices running Windows 11, version 21H2 Home, and Windows 11 Pro, version 22H2. Since Windows 10, we’ve been helping Windows users stay up-to-date and secure with supported versions of Windows through automatic updates. We use the same Access for Windows 11 to help you stay protected and productive,” the company explained.

It is also important to note that the measure is designed to maintain information security and protection against vulnerabilities and vulnerabilities that change at any time, so it is always recommended to update. Besides that Microsoft has also stopped supporting this version, which means that it does not receive security updates and bug fixes. The latest version 22H2 will continue to be supported until October 2024.

Among other things, version 22H2 includes the new file explorer with arrangement using tabs, a more flexible and adapted start menu, a redesign of the task manager, Live Captions that allows live narration of texts and menus, alongside expanded options for control using voice commands and more.
