He hasn’t been seen for almost ten years. Now Stefan Raab is back in front of the camera – and is revealing the secret of his appearance live on RTL.

He is considered one of the greatest entertainers of our time: for years, Stefan Raab shaped the German television landscape. As a producer and host, he made shows such as “TV total” and “Schlag den Star” into hits, staged live spectacles such as “Turmspringen” or the “Wok WM”, moderated the chancellor’s duel between Angela Merkel and Peer Steinbrück and won the Eurovision Song Contest.

But then it was suddenly over: In December 2015, Stefan Raab said goodbye to the screens after 16 years and withdrew completely from public life. Although he continued to direct events behind the scenes, he no longer appeared in front of the camera.

Then in the spring came the surprise: after almost a decade of radio silence, Stefan Raab suddenly became active on Instagram – and announced his comeback. His appearance, however, caused surprise. The 57-year-old appeared with a full beard and significantly more pounds on his ribs.

In recent weeks, the TV producer has repeatedly appeared in clips on his account. At first he was supposedly overweight, but most recently he had a complete makeover by a beauty doctor, as you can see here. This fueled speculation about his appearance. With one goal: to promote his appearance on RTL.

On Saturday evening, Stefan Raab appeared live in front of the camera for the first time to face his former opponent Regina Halmich in the boxing ring. The TV event opened with a huge show – you can read all the details again in the live ticker here. After around two hours, the time had finally come: Raab entered the arena in Düsseldorf to thunderous applause from the almost 13,000 spectators via a show staircase lowered from the ceiling. After a musical interlude, the 57-year-old appeared topless – and caused a huge surprise with his trained body.

Many viewers in front of the screens could hardly believe their eyes. “Raab looks amazing – wow!”, “I didn’t expect that. I’m impressed” and “With this form he definitely has a chance against Regina” were read on the short message service X, along with numerous other praising comments.

It is not the first time that the 57-year-old has met the former boxing world champion in the ring. Fists flew in 2001 and 2007 – Stefan Raab lost both times. In 2001, Regina Halmich even broke his nose. Now he has turned his revenge into a comeback spectacle.

Just the beginning of his return to the screen? The rumor mill is boiling in the TV industry. Stefan Raab is now represented on the market with a new production company and will soon be seen regularly in the evening program – on RTL.
