The provision that the State should show to cover the gaps, which will be created in the Greek Police in the coming years, is shown by the trade unionists, who are asking for the gradual reinforcement of the Ioannina Police Department before the… large exodus of those who are close to the retirement.
The Union of Police Officers of Ioannina, after the recent additional transfers, asks the political and physical leadership to accelerate the pace of strengthening the human resources, which is shrinking numerically and growing in age. From the last additional transfers, only two people will come to the Police Directorate of Ioannina, while two people were transferred to Preveza and Thesprotia, and three to Arta.
“Last year at this time, supplementary transfers were at zero throughout Greece. At least 120 transfers came out this year, which means a move in the yearbook. However, as we have highlighted over the past 1.5 years, around a quarter of the Police Department’s force has matured pension rights. They remain, but this will not happen indefinitely”, noted the president of the Union, Anestis Konstantinidis, stressing that, if in the next two to three years we do not have brave recruitments, about 50 people per year, there will be a disruption in the operation of the services .
Given that, for now, there are no significant problems, the state does not seem to be moving towards strengthening services, with Mr. Konstantinidis noting that malfunctions will appear suddenly, if care is not taken, as they are headed for the retirement of around 600 people, who were recruited in the 90s because of the then Albanian issue.
The Union of Police Officers asks, once again, also from the local bodies to support the request of reinforcement with personnel, in view of the next regular transfers, at the beginning of the year.
