Police know about Neetu who abducted the child while trying to escape in a taxi. The police were able to abduct the child and return the child within 2.45 hours. Gandhinagar police, who had not done anything for hours after lodging a complaint, were charged in the first honor killing in Kerala. The police lost crucial moments in Kevin’s case, who did not even wait a moment for the steps to locate the newborn. The incident took place on May 27, 2018.
Kevin P. Joseph’s wife Neenu’s relatives arrived at Gandhinagar station at 6 am with a complaint that KV had been abducted by his relatives. But the police were not ready to take up the case. Police said the SI was talking to the kidnappers and would consult after they arrived. His wife Neenu reached the station at 11 am and lodged a complaint but no action was taken by the police.
Neenu was stabbed at the station and had to protest. If the police had investigated at that time, KV could have been located and the murder could have been prevented. IG Vijay Sakhar, who was investigating the incident at the time, had reported that the then SI MS Shibu hid everything despite knowing about the crime.
Police station named after Gandhi
Gandhinagar Police Station is a 52 year old station. The station started operations on January 26, 1970. The first name was Arpookkara Police Station. The station was renamed Gandhinagar by a 1976 order. It has been 52 years since the Medical College area where the station is located came to be known as Gandhinagar
The area adjoining Kumaranalloor, Arpookkara and Athirampuzha panchayats did not have a specific name. With the arrival of the Medical College here, it was decided to give it a special name. Thus, on October 1, 1969, the area was renamed as Gandhi Nagar.
