Fernando Gomes, President of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), commented, this Saturday night, on the whistles from which Otávio, a FC Porto midfielder, was the target at Estádio da Luz, during the duel between Portugal and Bosnia (3-0), defending the player and asking for a change.
«I deeply regret having witnessed, for the second time in National Team games, the unacceptable episode of seeing a player wearing the Quinas jersey being whistled in a stadium in Portugal. We have had the unconditional, enthusiastic and vibrant support of the Portuguese and I am well aware of how this stimulus can become an extra force for our players», begins by reading the official note from the manager.
«I also know how the players who represent the National Team do so with great pride, immense joy and total commitment. Otávio is one of ours. And we must demand unconditional support and applause from all Portuguese people whenever he wears his country’s shirt. No color, no club, no fanaticism and, as our National Coach said, no illness », he adds.
