The smaller the cigarette butts are in appearance, the greater the danger they pose to the environment. Naman Gupta understood this danger and found the best solution for it. Know how he recycled 200 crore cigarette butts.

About 10 thousand crore means 100 Billion cigarette butts are thrown every year in India. Whose weight is more than 26000 tonnes. Not only this, but this small looking butt is also a big threat to the environment, but very few people know about it.

Very little effort has been made to recycle cigarette butts in India. Till the year 2018, there was no company in our country which was working for cigarette waste. Naman Gupta of Noida not only understood this problem but also found a sustainable solution for it. While graduating from Delhi University, Naman decided to work on the problem of cigarette waste.

He started working on it as soon as his graduation was over. After about seven months of research, Naman came up with a solution that could completely recycle cigarette butts. Along with this, he also emphasized on bringing maximum awareness through his company Code Effort.

In this way, they became the first company in the country to recycle cigarette waste. Gradually, he started associating rag pickers with him. He also did a lot of research on different techniques for recycling.

The result of his efforts is that today he is working closely with more than 2000 waste pickers across the country. Through his work, Naman is recycling tons of cigarette butts every month.

He told that till now he has saved 5000 crore liters of water from contamination by recycling 200 crore cigarette butts. His company recycles cigarette butts into compost, handmade paper, toys and cushion filling.
