Juan Pablo Hermosilla, attorney for his⁣ brother ‍Luis, argued ⁤against the preventive detention‍ requested by the Public Prosecutor’s Office ‍in⁣ the‌ Audios case. The ⁤case involves alleged bribery of public officials and money laundering.

Attorney Luis Hermosilla testified for the second consecutive day at⁤ the⁣ Prosecutor’s Office. He claimed‍ that the preventive detention ⁤request was inappropriate,‍ urging the authorities to review the investigation file first.

“I cannot disclose the specifics of⁤ the formalization, but I believe, as we have ‍previously stated, that there were serious mistakes made in this⁢ case. Apologies were even issued at the time for⁤ some of‍ the comments made.”

The jurist expressed his opinion ⁤that there was no evidence⁢ justifying preventive detention, but he declined to⁤ elaborate further until the investigation file was reviewed.

The case originated in November of last year when news outlet Ciper leaked an audio recording of a meeting where Luis Hermosilla ⁤allegedly discussed bribing officials⁢ from the Financial⁤ Market Commission ‍(CMF) and the Internal Revenue Service ⁣(SII)⁢ to gain⁢ insider information in favor of Factop, a company owned by the Sauer‌ brothers.

Hermosilla argued ⁢that, despite his brother’s words‌ in the recording, he is ‌innocent of the crimes he⁢ is accused of. He maintained that his brother may have made inappropriate statements but did not actually commit the offenses.
