A man shot this Friday at the YES Prep Southwest Secondary school, in the American city of Houston, and injured an employee that he had to be operated on urgently.

The authorities reported that there were no injured students. The attacker was arrested, although investigators are looking for more suspects, since they doubt that he acted alone.

The episode generated panic among the students who were this Friday morning on the school campus.

Police identified the attacker as a 25-year-old who in the past attended YES Prep Southwest and alerted area residents to stay away from the scene of the incident, ABC reported.

The Houston Police Department said it received a report of an active shooting around 11:45.

Texas City Police Chief Troy Finner said the suspect he was armed with a rifle.

According to Finner, the assailant entered the school by shooting at a closed glass door. Then, he opened fire on an employee, who received a shot in the back.

The suspect surrendered without resistance when the officers arrived at the scene.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital in serious condition and was undergoing surgery, Finner said.
