Enkenbach-Alsenborn (Rhineland-Palatinate) – The Palatinate police now have new super weapons against child molesters, terrorists and fraudsters!

In a pilot project, five data carrier detection dogs were trained by the investigators to sniff out electronic storage media – such as notebooks, mobile phones, USB sticks and memory cards – with their sensitive noses.

Background: With the advancing digitization, criminals are increasingly using these data carriers for their crimes, Interior Minister Michael Ebling (56, SPD) explained on Tuesday in Enkenbach-Alsenborn.

“In several cases, our dogs have found data carriers with important evidence during searches that would otherwise not have been found.”

And IT specialists should continue to be trained on four paws!

This decision was successful and therefore absolutely right, emphasized the Minister of the Interior and announced the training of five more data carrier detection dogs.

The police university will be responsible for the training of the animals as a central point in the future. In addition to Enkenbach-Alsenborn (Kaiserslautern district), a second training location has been opened in Wittlich-Wengerohr (Bernkastel-Wittlich district), Ebling reported.

All service dogs of the Rhineland-Palatinate police are trained not only as sniffer dogs but also as protection and tracking dogs. (no)
