Told Mammooka to call her Eda, I asked if this is not polite: Dileesh Pothan

Actor and director Dileesh Pothan says that Mammooka is a very dedicated person and that is why she has been able to remain a pillar of Malayalam cinema for so many years. The actor also shared his experiences when he acted in the film Pullikaran Stara with Mammootty. Dileesh Pothan said these things in an interview given to Milestone Makers.

‘Mammooka is a very good person, he is so dedicated. Being able to stand as a pillar of an industry for so many years is no small feat. It’s awfully easy to come to the cinema but it’s hard to stay here. Yet he is still here because he is so dedicated even at this age.

When we act with him, we will understand it exactly. He plays each character with more desire than us. In the movie Pullikaran Stara, our characters are friends. So he had to take terrible liberties.

There is a scene in that movie. When I come to the car, Mammooka is drinking tea from the road. Then I asked the director, is there any courtesy? How can I call Mammooka Eda? But later somehow I acted all that. Isn’t Mammooka an all-time favourite,’ said Dileesh Pothan.

Meanwhile, the latest film starring Dileesh to hit theaters is Kappa directed by Shaji Kailas. The movie is based on GR Indu Gopan’s story Shankhumukhi. Prithviraj, Asif Ali, Jagadish, Anna Ben and Aparna Balamurali are playing other important characters. Indu Gopan himself has written the screenplay of Kappa.

Kappa also has the distinction of being a film co-produced by FEFCA Writers’ Union. The movie hit the theaters on December 22. The film received a mixed response at the theatres.
