A 23-year-old man was taken into police custody on Friday for “attempted murder” after the defenestration, at Chambon-Feugerolles (Loire), of his two daughters, aged two and four, whose vital prognosis is engaged, a- we learned from the Saint-Étienne public prosecutor’s office.

The firefighters intervened around 10 a.m. to rescue the girls who had fallen on the asphalt.

“We hope that they will survive this fall from the 4th floor, but their vital prognosis is engaged”, declared the public prosecutor of Saint-Étienne David Charmatz. The magistrate went there and opened an investigation for “attempted homicide by ascending on minors under 15 years old”.

One of the two girls was hospitalized in Saint-Étienne, the other in Lyon.

According to the first elements of the investigation, the father, who was placed in police custody at the Firminy police station (Loire), was alone with his two daughters at the time of the tragedy, the mother was absent. He was in the apartment when the police arrived.
