We are currently seeking a Head of Department for the Child and Youth Psychiatry Department (BUP) in Kalmar/Oskarshamn.

As the Head of Department, you will have the responsibility of leading and developing the BUP in Kalmar County alongside your colleagues and employees. Your main tasks will include maintaining and improving the quality of care, fostering a positive working environment, and ensuring effective leadership and teamwork.

In addition to overseeing operations, finances, personnel, and work environment, you will also be involved in setting and achieving goals, as well as representing the department and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Kalmar County. This position is one of two unit manager positions at the workplace.

As a manager in Region Kalmar County, you will have access to various training opportunities and professional networks to enhance your leadership skills. The unit is supported by an HR consultant, controller, business developer, and communicator, who will provide consultative support to help you address any challenges you may face. Furthermore, we offer benefits such as flexible working hours, a wellness allowance, and additional vacation days when you reach the ages of 40 and 50.

While the managerial appointment is limited in time, you will be offered permanent employment within your core profession.

We are looking for candidates who are passionate about development work and thrive in leading change. Strong initiative, the ability to promote participation and commitment, and excellent communication skills are essential for this role. You should also possess good organizational and follow-up skills.

Candidates must have a university degree in healthcare (nursing, sociology, psychology, or related fields) and previous leadership experience. Knowledge and experience in the field of psychiatry are advantageous. A valid B driving license is a requirement.

The outpatient clinic in Kalmar/Oskarshamn, where the department is located, employs approximately 70 staff members and serves around 3,400 patients and their families per year. Last year, the clinic welcomed 1,073 new visitors. The specialized child and youth psychiatry in Kalmar County also operates outpatient services in Västervik and Vimmerby, as well as an emergency department and an eating disorder unit in Kalmar and Västervik. Our focus is on accessibility, respect, professionalism, and holistic thinking.

Region Kalmar County’s Psychiatry Administration, of which the Child and Youth Psychiatry Department is a part, employs a total of 600 professionals dedicated to specialist psychiatric care and treatment for adults, children, and young people.
