General Mamadi Doumbouya does not promise. He delivers! It is almost rare to see a President of the Republic who has such a deep understanding of the problems of his people and shares their suffering without the slightest flaw. Every moment spent without electricity for the peaceful Guinean populations is felt with amazement and anguish by His Excellency the President of the Republic, who hates to see his compatriots suffer, both at home and abroad.
It is precisely in this logic that General Mamadi Doumbouya sent to Turkey a large delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, to renegotiate the return of the thermal boat in order to interconnect it with the EDG (Electricité de Guinée) network.
It must be acknowledged that in the field of electricity, the CNRD has inherited a heavy burden. Some corrupt executives of previous regimes had always confused the state coffers with their pockets, to direct the money of the Guinean taxpayer towards shaky directions, by insinuating that these millions of foreign currencies were all intended for the electricity sector alone.
Following September 5, 2021, the CNRD rebalanced things by allocating to each sector the funds intended for it in the budget planning. This is why some important projects were able to be designed and completed.
Two major facts have been added to this situation: the scarcity of rain in the areas of the large hydroelectric dams and the fire at the main hydrocarbon depot, preventing the supply of the Tombo sites. The Guinean economy has been severely tested and continues to be so.
The blow was very hard, but it only strengthened the General’s patriotism towards his People. He had to react so that these nights of darkness would be a distant memory. And those who thought that Turkey, for unacknowledged and unacknowledgeable reasons, would not agree to deploy the floating thermal power plant misread the trajectory of the diplomacy put in place by General Doumbouya.
This Thursday, August 15, 2024, as announced, the boat docked at the large port of Conakry. If the situation has improved significantly in recent days, the worthy son of Hadja Mandioula does not want to leave anything to chance. By personally taking charge of the electricity file, he further proves to Guineans that he is constantly sensitive to their situation.
The results of the interconnection with the EDG network will be officially launched on August 21. The Turkish floating thermal power plant has more than a hundred megawatts.
The other challenge for EDG will be to make the management of electricity profitable by making customers pay. It should be noted that many Guineans are bad payers of their electricity bills.
With the CNRD and its valiant President, General Mamadi Doumbouya in this case, it is Guinea that wins…
