Head to Head: Pizza Night vs. La Tigra

by time news

Pizza night

location: One of the branches of the Levinsky market, a cozy and hot niche like a pizza (Mehravia 4).
atmosphere: A never-ending Florentine street party.
the pizza: a school for doing classics correctly. With all due respect to the margaritas, the comparison begins to be measured in toppings, and there is nothing like a classic pepperoni as the equalizer. The mozzarella was poured abundantly and covered almost the entire beautiful tray, which glistened with tempting oiliness. The pepperoni is particularly juicy, gets a hard crust at the edges and also releases a lot of oil. Above all, the parmesan is poured generously and melts into the whole mixture to create a classic slice with an explosive flavor. As if they took a cliché dish and made it 110 percent.
The hard of the pizza: Brown, crispy, noisy and it’s simply a pleasure to dip it in dips or eat it alone.
The Bottom Line: the kind of place that everyone dreams of accidentally stumbling upon abroad – the light and neighborhood atmosphere stands in complete contrast to the excellent ingredients and the fantastic pizza baking. The only problem, if we try to look for it, is the amount of oil that remains on the tray (and under it, and on the hands, the face and probably the entire upholstery of your stomach).

La Tigra

location: West Florentine, high above the street as if it were the canteen (Frankel 9).
atmosphere: A pizzeria in Naples that maybe disguises itself a bit for the tourists, but still provides the most accurate experience you could ask for.
the pizza: A work of art. Even a relatively simple pizza like pepperoni gets special treatment here with wonderful chunks of mozzarella melted in small pools, above and below and around thin slices of pepperoni but bursting with flavor, together with a delicate and delicious tomato sauce and a spicy honey dip that I want to dip in like a mikvah, the result is a bite which acts like a distillation and explodes in the mouth in a colorful celebration of flavors. They really made pepperoni pizza feel like something new.
The hard of the pizza: an almost unbelievable dream of a combination of external crispness and internal softness. It is not for nothing that they are proud of their Neapolitan cutting method with the scissors, which are designed to keep the shape of the tap. And any pizzeria that respects hard is a pizzeria we like.
The Bottom Line: Class with quite a bit of effort, but how worth it. The whole experience of La Tigre makes pizza a luxury pastime without having to spend the costs of a luxury restaurant. We would say that this pizza should be framed in a museum, but then we wouldn’t be able to enjoy it.

the winner

La Tigre, because as much as we love classics, sometimes classic wins.
