The Ministry of Health of the Government of National Unity denied rumors regarding the shortage of operators and the suspension of kidney dialysis services.

The ministry explained that “the delay in the arrival of shipments was due to the problem of opening credits by the Central Bank of Libya, which had been referred to procedures since last year.”

The ministry announced, “The arrival of the first shipment of dialysis machines, via Maitika International Airport, estimated at about 25,000 sessions,” stressing that “the second shipment is estimated at about 26,000 sessions and will arrive next Tuesday, to meet the needs of kidney patients for dialysis machines.”

The ministry indicated that “the shipments will arrive successively during the coming days via air and sea ports, to cover any shortage, and the Medical Supply Authority will urgently begin the process of distributing dialysis machines through its branches in all regions, to supply dialysis centers and meet the needs of patients.”

The Ministry of Health pointed out that it was able to control the crisis of the shortage of dialysis machines, by forming emergency committees that coordinate between the dialysis centers and the Medical Supply Authority and its branches, to fill the deficit in dialysis machines by rotating the stock of dialysis machines to the centers that need them to ensure that dialysis operations do not stop.

She also pointed out “not to be drawn into rumors and social media pages that broadcast misleading news about the suspension of dialysis services and the depletion of the stock of actuators. The Ministry of Health confirms that shipments of dialysis actuators will arrive in Libya successively, during the coming days, to provide a strategic stock of actuators, and to meet all the requirements of the dialysis centers spread throughout Libya.”
