Eddie Hearn today announced that he is closing in on a deal that will bring two British fighters to the ring at the top level of the WBC-1 flyweight division.

Matchroom will probably organize the fight between the number three and number four in the world ranking of the theme song: Sunny Edwards against Galal Yafai

Edwards (21-1, 4 KOs pictured above) the two-year IBF champion bounced back from last year’s loss to Jesse Rodriguez by defeating former world mini-weight champion Adrian Curiel in Phoenix in June, putting himself in prime position for a world opportunity.

That said, it is understandable that he faces Yafai (7-0, 5 KO – photo below) first, WBC International champion who we remember as a gold medalist in Tokyo, 31 years old with over a decade of experience at a high level. Yafai curiously won the WBC International on his professional debut and has defended it six times. A truly interesting match and a clash between two different styles.
