Heart of Chernobyl explains launch failures

by time news

It promises⁣ to fix all the ⁢bugs that have occurred so far

STALKER ‍2: The Heart of Chernobyl has made many players vrey happy in ‌the last two weeks despite launching with a number of serious‍ errors ‌and⁤ bugs, but the Ukrainian studio‍ clearly knows ‍that there is a lot of‌ work to be done in the coming weeks and months.

One ⁤of the problems that emerged is the ⁣apparent absence of the “A-Life 2.0” system. promised.‍ This system, already present in ⁤the‍ first chapter, allows all the NPCs in the game to have their own “life”⁢ parallel to ⁣the one the player is experiencing. Now one of the developers⁣ of the game has spoken⁤ about⁢ it.

Speaking to IGN, GSC Game‍ World CEO ievgen Grygorovych ⁢revealed that the A-life 2.0⁤ system is present In STALKER 2: The Heart of Chernobyl ⁣ at the ⁢moment, but optimization issues before launch caused it ⁤to fail and not function properly.

“Often the game world exists only in the player’s field of vision. A-Life 2.0 is a simulation system⁤ for ‍life in the Zone.⁣ Factions and mutants fight for living space, migrate, conquer new positions, or retreat to safer areas. A-Life⁣ is what makes the Zone‌ truly alive and unpredictable.”

And now, This is a bit of what Ievgen ‌Grygorovych has to say about why it doesn’t work at launch:

“This system requires a much larger area⁤ for NPCs to function properly‌ and requires many‍ more memory resources.⁤ We were struggling with optimization. To⁢ optimize, you have a lot‍ of things that need⁢ your resources and you try to cut things from different elements to optimize the⁤ game well. But to make it work we had to optimize some things⁤ and this means ⁣that A-Life dose not work as it should in ‍many situations. Also,⁤ not too long ago, before launch, we created some bugs where NPCs would appear in the air and fall to the ground. I don’t know why this happened. In addition to this, we also encountered some issues ‌with the behavior of the AI.”

Ievgen⁤ went on to explain that the team is working on further optimization to “bring more resources to the A-Life system,” promising ⁢that at⁢ some point the problem⁢ will be fully resolved and ‌may ‌even be‌ more⁢ “advanced” than expected.

There is no date at the moment, but ⁣we already know STALKER 2: The Heart of Chernobyl ⁢ will be rolling out additional hotfixes‌ and⁣ major updates⁤ in the near future⁤ on Xbox‌ and PC, along‍ with ⁤a content roadmap that looks ⁤set to arrive later this⁤ month.
