Drama in badminton. The Spanish player Carolina Marín withdrew midway through the semi-finals of the singles badminton tournament at Paris 2024, due to a right knee injury. At that moment, the 31-year-old Spaniard was leading the match against He Bingjiao (21-14 and 10-8) and seemed destined to reach the final, but a physical issue, caused by a misstep, halted her dream and left her in tears. Like many of the fans following this match, especially the Spaniards, who could not believe yet another misfortune for their athlete.
For Marín, after winning gold in Rio de Janeiro, the Olympic Games seem to be a curse. She did not compete in Tokyo due to injury… In Paris, she was forced to withdraw when she was almost in the final and, consequently, her medals seemed almost guaranteed… Dramatic!
