Heartfelt Farewell: Gesythmani Koutouzoglou Officially Exits Survivor Amid Family Crisis

by time news

Gethsemane Koutouzoglou is now officially a thing of the past on Survivor, as she left the reality show making everyone burst into tears.

One surprise followed another in the episode of Wednesday (25/09) on Survivor, where the two teams met once again for another challenge.

George Lianos welcomed the “Eagles” and “Tigers” and pointed out for anyone who might not have noticed that Gethsemane Koutouzoglou was not among the players, as she had left the survival reality show due to family problems.

“Gethsemane needed to communicate with her family. There was a purely personal, family reason for which she had to reach out,” said the host while introducing the player, as she appeared before everyone and burst into tears explaining what led her to make the decision to leave Survivor.

Something very serious has happened back in Greece that forces me to leave the game and return. George, at first before I came, I said something… I will never sugarcoat my words, I have been real from the very first moment… what I had said before coming to the game is that I paused everything in my life and put the pedal to the metal with my soul to live this big dream and conquer the peak that is called Survivor. Unfortunately, I wish I could touch this peak a little, to see a bit of its beauty,” said Gethsemane Koutouzoglou amidst sobs, with her teammates unable to hold back their tears as well.

As it appears, the “family problems” mentioned by Gethsemane Koutouzoglou concern legal issues that the 36-year-old Special Forces Sergeant is facing, as reports in previous days suggested that the player was in the Dominican Republic without having obtained special permission from her unit in Redina, where she serves, to participate in the reality show.

According to reports, Gethsemane Koutouzoglou returned on Saturday (21/09) from the Dominican Republic to Greece in order to explain herself for the charge of desertion abroad that she is facing. Immediately after her arrival, she was arrested and brought before the competent military prosecutor.

A disciplinary investigation had already been initiated against the Sergeant by the General Staff of the Army (GES), to determine whether she had permission to participate in Survivor, with information suggesting that she used her regular leave to be in the Dominican Republic and had requested unpaid leave starting from October 1, 2024.

After being brought before the military prosecutor of Thessaloniki, the sergeant was released under the condition of a travel ban.
