(ANSA) – ROME, AUGUST 24 – A scorching and even muggy weekend for the African anticyclone that in these hours is reaching the peak of its power in this new advance on Italy. A situation that is destined to change next week, however. The founder of the website www.iLMeteo.it, Antonio Sanò, takes stock. “Both Saturday and Sunday the sun and the heat will prevail. Just think that daytime temperatures will reach peaks of 35-37°C in the Center-South, as in Umbria, Lazio, Marche, peaks of 38°C in Sardinia, on the Ionian coasts of Basilicata, in Puglia in the Taranto area and in Sicily in the inland areas”, says Sanò. During the day on Sunday the pressure will slowly begin to decrease starting from the North and thunderstorms will develop that could be locally intense on the Alps of the Triveneto. Towards evening and night they could also reach the Prealps and the high plains of the Veneto. A real change in the weather will arrive starting from Monday. “The lowering of the latitude of the disturbed coils of the active cyclone between Iceland and the United Kingdom will favor the detachment of a cold drop at altitude – explains Sanò – which will be able to reach the Mediterranean and influence the weather in Italy”. Next week will see the results of this incursion into the African high pressure field. Starting from Monday 26, the atmosphere will become increasingly unstable starting from the North. Rather irregular thunderstorms will first affect the Alps, then the Po Valley (between the night and the morning of Tuesday) and in the following days in a widespread manner throughout the Apennine ridge and the inland areas of Sicily. Despite the arrival of the thunderstorms, temperatures will not suffer major shocks, in fact apart from a small drop, the maximum values will continue to remain above 30-33°C in most cities.
