Rabat – A total of 21 deaths, mostly elderly people or people suffering from chronic illnesses, were recorded on Wednesday at the Béni Mellal Regional Hospital Center, following the rise in temperatures, announced the regional directorate of Health and Protection social security of Béni Mellal-Khénifra.
In a press release, the regional management reports 4 deaths occurring outside the hospital establishment and 17 hospital deaths, noting that the majority of people who lost their lives suffered from chronic illnesses, or were elderly.
The rise in temperatures caused the victims’ state of health to deteriorate, leading to their death, it is said.

The regional directorate of Health and Social Protection had opened an investigation following the dissemination of information reporting sudden deaths recorded in the emergency room of the Béni Mellal Regional Hospital due to rising temperatures, the press release added.
