Twenty-three departments were placed on heatwave orange vigilance by Météo France this Wednesday afternoon, on the first day of a particularly early heat wave which will last until the weekend.

The 23 departments concerned are located in the south-west quarter of France, the regions extending from the south-west to the Pays de la Loire, as well as the middle Rhône valley.

This heatwave episode will affect all of France from Thursday and last until next weekend. The mercury could reach between 38 and 40 ° C on Friday, or even more than 40 ° C locally, according to Météo France, which has further revised its temperature forecast upwards.
