The executive is preparing for the heat wave. Elisabeth Borne has asked all ministers to mobilize to deal with the consequences of the heat wave which is starting in France, the Prime Minister’s services announced on Tuesday morning.

“Heat has a very rapid impact on the state of health of populations, in particular the most vulnerable people. In this context, all the actors in the territories must be mobilized”, recalls Matignon in a press release: “This is the meaning of the instruction sent by the Prime Minister to her ministers to ensure their full mobilization. »

A new heat wave is setting in over France with peaks of 39°C possible from Tuesday in the south of the country. The intensity and duration of the phenomenon are still difficult to predict, according to experts from Météo France, but temperatures already exceeded 30 ° C on Monday over a large part of the country.

Prevention messages for the most vulnerable

Matignon stresses that “the Government will ensure the activation of the ORSEC system health management of heat waves in all the departments on heat wave alert, to the mobilization and awareness of all the actors “such as State services, local authorities, health and medico-social establishments (in particular establishments of accommodation for dependent elderly people).

Will also be taken into account the companies most exposed to outdoor work, transport companies but also the organizers of sporting or cultural events.

Prevention messages must also be multiplied with fragile people (“infants, elderly people, people with disabilities, pregnant women”) or people overexposed to heat (“homeless people, workers overexposed to heat, athletes” ).

According to Météo France, “we expect at least a duration of eight to ten days”, with a peak probably “between Saturday and next Tuesday” July 19.
