Heather Rae El Moussa Opens up About Her Battle with Hashimoto’s Disease

In a recent interview with Today, Heather Rae El Moussa, star of the hit show Selling Sunset, shared some shocking news about her health. The 34-year-old reality star revealed that she has been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease, a thyroid disorder.

Heather’s diagnosis comes just eight months after giving birth to her son, Tristan, with her husband, Tarek El Moussa. She admitted that she had been experiencing extreme fatigue and sought medical help when her symptoms became unbearable.

“I remember saying to my assistant, ‘I feel like I’m dead,'” Heather said. “My brain was so tired. My body was so tired. I was exhausted all the time, and no amount of sleep could make it better.”

According to Johns Hopkins University, Hashimoto’s disease is an autoimmune disorder that occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks the thyroid gland. Some of the possible symptoms include tiredness, weight gain, and muscle weakness.

Heather revealed that she started experiencing symptoms when she was four months postpartum. The idea of having to film her shows, both Selling Sunset on Netflix and The Flipping El Moussas on HGTV alongside her husband, became daunting.

“Filming was absolutely brutal,” she confessed. “I could barely get out of bed.”

Initially, Heather attributed her fatigue to being a new mother and dismissed it as “mom brain.” Little did she know that her symptoms were part of a larger underlying issue.

Now that she has been diagnosed, Heather is focused on managing her condition and raising awareness about Hashimoto’s disease. She hopes that by sharing her story, she can inspire others who are struggling with similar health issues.

Heather’s bravery in opening up about her battle with Hashimoto’s disease serves as a reminder that health struggles can affect anyone, regardless of their celebrity status. Her determination to continue working and providing for her family despite the challenges is truly commendable.

We wish Heather Rae El Moussa all the best in her journey towards better health and hope that her story helps others in similar situations find the support they need.
