Météo France placed thirteen categories on “orange heatwave alert” from Sunday afternoon in its latest bulletin published on Sunday morning, due to the heat wave coming from Spain. In the West Coast, the heat wave will be “relatively short”, Météo France explained but it promises to be “especially severe at the beginning of the week”. Maximum temperatures of 34°C to 36°C, in the 37-38°C range, are expected on Sunday.

In the two Savoyard sectors, temperatures will reach 36 degrees in the valleys. Finally, in Haute-Corse, “the maximum temperature reaches 32 to 34°C on the coast and up to 37°C inland, or even in the area of ​​38°C around Corte,” referring to the eye center look like.

Elsewhere in the Southern Mediterranean, the mercury will hover between 35 and 38°C, more locally in the Var, and between 30 and 34°C in the Mid-East. This is “an event that is not exceptional, but requires particular caution, especially for sensitive or exposed people,” indicates Météo France.

The lowest temperatures will be high from Sunday night to Monday, especially in the southwest and in Corsica with values ​​between 20 and 24°C.

Still intense heat on Monday

On Monday, the heat will become “very strong in the south of the country”, according to the meteorological institute. The 40 degree mark can be reached, “or even more in the area between New Aquitaine, south of Toulouse or even in the landscape of Hérault and Gard up to the interior of the Var”, during which it will be the 48th heat wave from the post. -war weather, said Tristan Amm, forecaster for Météo France. In the north of New Aquitaine, the mercury can still reach 35-38°C.

On Tuesday, even if the temperatures “must return to the west”, the heat “will spread a little further to the north”, it will spread across the region going from Center-Val-de-Loire to Grand Est, moving through Île-de-France. In the event of orange alert, “everyone is at risk”, even people in good health, refers to Météo France on its website, recommending that people who work outdoors and athletes be careful of dehydration and attacks.

Météo France warns that “the risk is greater for the elderly, people with chronic illness or mental health disorders, people who regularly take medication, and people who are isolated”.
