Austria again showed great willingness to help in the 49th LICHT INS DUNKEL campaign

Vienna (OTS) More than 13.5 million euros were collected in the 49th LICHT INS DUNKEL campaign and the 44th TV program on Christmas Eve on ORF up to and including December 24th, 2021, with the active support of numerous celebrities and guards of the Austrian Armed Forces who helped out on the donation phones in the call center at A1 headquarters all day. Traditionally, all of this amount goes to people with disabilities and families and children in need in Austria.

“Ö3 Christmas Miracle” 2021 brought in more than 3.9 million euros

The “Ö3 Christmas Miracle” brought in 3,937,723 euros in 2021. This is the best result of the campaign so far, in which the “Ö3-Wunschhütte” in Vienna-Heiligenstadt was broadcast again for 120 hours today. Gabi Hiller, Robert Kratky and Andi Knoll were there again this year. The donations will benefit the LICHT INS DUNKEL emergency aid fund. In addition, there are at least 410,000 euros from the “Ö3 surprise bag” – the campaign will dispose of old cell phones in an environmentally friendly manner, which brings in cashless donations. The total amount of the “Ö3” donations is 4,347,723 euros.

Federal President Van der Bellen: “Helping is a tradition in Austria”

Federal President and patron of the LICHT INS DUNKEL campaign, Alexander Van der Bellen: “The past year was difficult and challenging due to the pandemic. Cracks are opening up in our community. Let’s make sure that we can look each other in the eye even after this crisis. I therefore ask you to help us to overcome the rifts that may have caused the pandemic in the coming year. But what makes me confident is that despite the crisis, people are ready to help others. Helping is a tradition in Austria. And LICHT INS DUNKEL is a wonderful example of how successful we are in Austria when we help together. “

Heavenly Christmas: LIGHT INTO DARK highlights from all federal states

In the afternoon broadcast of LICHT INS DUNKEL there were several live entries in the ORF regional studios, where prominent guests, interesting talks, touching stories, committed donors, unique initiatives, musical performances as well as examples of how and where all over the country helped have been shown.

ORF General Director Wrabetz: “The ORF sees it as its job to connect people”

ORF General Director Dr. Alexander Wrabetz: “Today, with the LICHT INS DUNKEL campaign, we put what we have in common before what divides. This is beneficial in times when society is deeply divided. The ORF sees it as its task to connect people, and I am proud that we are able to do this thanks to our wide reach. For almost five decades, the ORF has offered a platform where the great willingness of Austrians to help and the professional help of partner organizations can come together successfully. So we can live inclusion together. “

Designated ORF General Director Weißmann: “Austrians contribute to more solidarity”

Designated ORF General Director Mag. Roland Weißmann: “The corona pandemic has put society to a tough test. With LICHT INS DUNKEL the Austrians are making a contribution to more solidarity and more togetherness. I am convinced that we will succeed this time too. “

LICHT INS DUNKEL-President Nekula: “Joint responsibility for one another”

LICHT INS DUNKEL-President Kurt Nekula: “I see today’s day under the sign of shared responsibility for one another. With LICHT INS DUNKEL we all contribute to the deepening of the understanding of the special situation of people with disabilities, that more trust develops in the positive effect of inclusive life models and the awareness of the shared responsibility for socio-economically disadvantaged people in our society grows. “

Managing Director of the LICHT INS DUNKEL Radinger association: “A symbol of solidarity is particularly important for the community”

Eva Radinger, managing director of the LICHT INS DUNKEL association: “Help has no season, but is necessary continuously throughout the year, and without the commitment of every individual we would not be able to even begin to meet the high demands on help. Especially in this year, which demands a lot from all of us, signs of solidarity are particularly important for the community. That is why we are all the more pleased when we can again give families in difficult life situations the confidence that we are there for each other when we are needed. “

ORF-LICHT INS DUNKEL boss Strobl: “Lead a self-determined life”

Pius Strobl, Head of ORF-Humanitarian Broadcasting: “’Seeing people’ is the leitmotif of LICHT INS DUNKEL: We have a great need to support families and children who are not doing so well so that they are just as alive like those who are better off. Many single parents are hit particularly hard in the pandemic. With this overwhelming donation we can again realize many projects for people in need so that they can lead a self-determined life. I would like to thank all donors for showing solidarity and not forgetting their fellow human beings, who are not favored by fate, especially at Christmas time. I would also like to thank everyone who made this 49th campaign and especially today’s broadcast possible. “
