Dallas ∙ Several North Texas counties including Dallas, Fort Worth and Dunton were reported to have suffered widespread damage from the tornadoes and heavy rains that struck late Thursday. Tornadoes and hail have also been reported in southwest Arkansas. Road traffic was partially affected.
A strong tornado passed through the Dallas-Fort Worth area Thursday night around 7 p.m. There were no reports of casualties due to earlier warnings about the storm. Power was out for more than 347,000 customers in North Texas. Roofs of many houses were damaged.
The National Weather Service issued a warning for all of Texas. About 400 flights have been canceled at airports in Dallas. The small plane flipped upside down due to strong winds in Mechani. By 9pm the wind calmed down. Authorities are assessing the damage.
