Kannur: Due to extreme weather conditions, the district collector has declared holiday for all educational institutions including professional colleges, ICSE, CBSE schools and Anganwadis in Kannur district on Wednesday, July 6. The District Collector also informed that the heads of the concerned educational institutions should take action to adjust the study time lost due to the holiday. He also asked for directions to keep the students away from the rain.

Heavy rain is likely in the state in the next few hours. The Central Meteorological Department has said that there is a possibility of rain at isolated places in all the districts of Kerala in the next three hours. At the same time, as issued earlier, the vigilance order continues today in 12 districts. Vigilance has been issued in 12 districts except Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam. Orange alert has been declared in six districts today. The districts of Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod are on orange alert. Northern districts may receive more heavy rain today. Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Palakkad and Wayanad districts are on yellow alert today.

The low pressure over Madhya Pradesh and strong monsoon winds from the Arabian Sea are the reason for the rain. Beachgoers should exercise caution as strong, high waves are possible. Special caution is advised in hilly areas as well. Fishermen have also been advised not to go to sea.
