Thiruvananthapuram: The weather department has issued a severe rain warning in the state. Orange alert has been announced in seven districts tomorrow. The rain will intensify this evening. 10 districts from Thiruvananthapuram to Malappuram are on yellow alert today. Meteorologists have warned that there will be flash floods in the region, but the rains in the state have eased in the last few days.

The current warning is that there is a chance of heavy rain till Thursday. Very heavy rain is also possible at isolated places. Central Kerala and South Kerala will receive more rain today and tomorrow. Rain will be heavy in the eastern regions from Ernakulam to Thiruvananthapuram. Later, there will be rain in North Kerala as well. Orange alert in the districts from Thiruvananthapuram to Idukki tomorrow.

Yellow alert has been declared in other districts except Wayanad and Kasaragod. It will rain again from Tuesday. Heavy rain warning has been issued in eight districts from Thiruvananthapuram to Thrissur on Tuesday. Orange alert is in place in 10 districts on Wednesday and Thursday. Despite the orange alert, the meteorological department has informed that heavy rainfall should be expected in the coastal areas and hilly areas.

The risk of landslides and waterlogging is high as more rain clouds can arrive in a short period of time. Landslides are also likely in forest areas. After Thursday, the intensity of rain may decrease. The rains are activated by the cyclonic circulation over the central-southern Bay of Bengal. It may become low pressure.
