Due to the Northeast Monsoon, it is raining intermittently in various parts of Tamil Nadu. Subsequently, till the 7th (Monday), Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal will receive light to moderate rains, the Meteorological Department has announced.
In this case, moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely to occur in 7 districts of Villupuram, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur and Ramanathapuram and Puducherry and Karaikal in the next three hours.
Heavy rains will occur at a few places in Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram and Thiruvallur districts today, according to the Met Office. In Chennai, from 8 am to 9 pm yesterday, the maximum rainfall was recorded at Villivakam at 33.5 mm and at Nungambakkam at 35.2 mm.
