The city of Kufra has been witnessing heavy rains since this morning, which led to floods running through the city streets, and widespread problems, including uprooting trees, water entering some neighborhoods and homes, and a general power outage.
The spokesman for the Kufra municipality, Abdullah Suleiman, confirmed in statements to Libya Al-Ahrar that the rains and strong winds in Kufra caused material losses to citizens’ property, without providing details about the extent of these losses.
Sulaiman added that the city’s “Al-Kasheh” hospital was out of service due to large amounts of rainwater entering the ground floor, noting that all patients were transferred from the hospital and distributed to other clinics and health centers.
Meanwhile, the Kufra Ambulance and Emergency Department announced the evacuation of 10 cases from Al-Kasheh Hospital.
For his part, the spokesman for the “Martyr Attia Al-Kassah” Hospital in Kufra, Muhammad Bushlaif, confirmed that a number of citizens were injured due to traffic accidents resulting from the lack of visibility on the roads due to the rain.
