Bengaluru: Three Malayalees died in a landslide at Mangaluru Bundwal. The deceased have been identified as Biju (45) from Palakkad, Santosh (46) from Alappuzha and Babu (46) from Kottayam. Johnny, a native of Kannur, and Akhil, the plantation owner, who were injured, were admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru. The accident happened to rubber tapping workers. The accident happened at 7 last night.
The Central Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in coastal Karnataka districts following heavy rains. Following red alert in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, holidays have been declared for schools and colleges in both the districts today. Heavy rains disrupted life in the coastal areas of Karnataka and the Malnad region.
