On Friday, temporary rain is expected mainly in the eastern regions, and in some places – a thunderstorm. At night, the air temperature will drop to +16..+21 degrees, during the day it will reach +23..+27 degrees, but in places on the coast it will fluctuate around +20 degrees.
According to the current forecast, there will be brief showers on Saturday afternoon and evening across most of the country. Heavy rains are expected in some places, there will also be a risk of local floods, storms and hail during the storm. The air temperature can reach +27..+32 degrees, cooler weather will remain in Kurzeme.
The probability of precipitation is also predicted on Sunday, when a large amount of clouds is expected, mostly a slow wind and the air temperature will probably not exceed +23..+28 degrees.
The Latvian Center for Environment, Geology and Meteorology indicates that in places where it rains very intensively, the soil will become wet and will not be able to absorb water. Due to high humidity and flooding, crops and plantations will be damaged. Stormwater drainage systems will be overloaded and may overflow.
Hydrologists also warn that the floodplains of some rivers and other low-lying areas could flood, causing flooding of property and infrastructure, possible road washouts and other infrastructure damage. During rainstorms, dangerous driving conditions will occur due to reduced visibility and aquaplaning.
