by time news

If you are a fan of sports movies, and a die-hard fan of the beloved actor, this is a cinematic celebration that you just can not afford to miss. The new film reminds us all of the impressive acting abilities of the beloved Jewish actor, and beyond that, it is simply enjoyable to watch, exciting, and provides a pleasant escapism for an early evening

“The Erosion”, which recently joined the film offerings of the streaming giant Netflix, manages to arouse quite a bit of interest and curiosity, and quite rightly so. The film stars the great Adam Sandler, and although it may well be under the definition of a classic sports film, it offers much more than that, as a good film should be.

In other words, “attrition” is not just about sports, but also about relationships, people, relationships, relationships, married life, poverty, power, ego, and what not. At the center of the plot is Stanley Sugarman who was a successful basketball player in the past and now roams the United States and the world in order to find the next talent. The next star, which makes him less present in family life, and miss quite a few birthdays of his eldest and only daughter.

Already at the beginning of the film Stanley gets a one-time opportunity, to become an assistant coach at the Philadelphia 76ers team, but to do that he must bring in the next star who will make the team good. How good? One that can finally bring a championship. During his stay in Spain, he is exposed to a tough street player who plays basketball with members of the neighborhood, and immediately realizes that this is his guy.

The anonymous star’s name is “Bo,” and he is a young man who is raising his daughter alone, living with his mother, and trying to live with dignity and support the family. A task that does not seem particularly simple. Thus, pretty quickly, the two’s fates are intertwined, and they fly together to the United States, taking a risk but holding on to a small, cautious hope.

On the one hand, Bo gives up his regular job that makes him money (a construction worker), leaving his daughter behind, while Stanley risks disappointment, failure. At this point all the challenges, egos, wars, and hardships behind the American basketball world are manifested, and pretty quickly the viewer discovers that American sports culture, does not welcome foreigners much.

Adam Sandler presents in the new film great acting abilities, which we are all familiar with, but it seems that in the current film, he manages to remind us all what a wonderful, authentic, and simple actor he is. It skips with admirable ease between touching dramatic moments, and comedic and entertaining moments. Even Bo, who is not an original player, shows not bad playing ability at all.

In conclusion, “The Erosion” is a fun, touching film, a Hollywood classic at its best, which on the one hand gives the sports world enough space and volume, but on the other hand does not forget the human element, which is no less, and makes the work really interesting and sweeping.
