Jimmy Saville was one of the most famous people all over the UK, a successful media man, a charismatic and coveted presenter, and a close friend of Princess Diana. He has hosted dozens of radio and television shows, and enjoyed the good life. Relatives said Jimmy was charming, amusing, and kind.
But beneath the surface, the successful media man sexually assaulted hundreds of girls. Now, streaming giant Netflix is telling us this incredible story of Jimmy. A two-part docu that tells his resume in great detail, focusing mainly on 2011, when the affair first exploded.
“Jimmy Saville: A British Horror Story” presents his horrific behind-the-scenes story and he does so in a clear and sharp way. Jimmy abused, assaulted and raped hundreds of people, most of them girls and boys coming from orphanages, churches, and rehabilitation institutions. The series reveals that Saville even attacked a girl with brain damage, a five-year-old boy, and a 75-year-old woman. In other words, almost anything that moves.
One of the shaky parts of the series is precisely the way in which almost every investigation was neutralized, a phenomenon that could only have existed at that time, at the beginning of the Mi Tu revolution. Even the part where the evidence comes in (especially in the second episode of the docu) is not a simple part to watch. And of course, the sad ending that reminds us that Jimmy never actually paid for his actions.
He passed away at the age of 85 in good return, leaving behind hundreds of casualties. “Jimmy Saville: A British Horror Story” joins a pretty serious wave of docu-series dealing with similar topics, and it seems that Mi Tu’s revolution is indeed giving its signals, with more and more stories being published and providing streaming companies with plenty of raw material.
