Danish director Lars von Trier on Parkinson’s disease: “I have to get used to the fact that I’m shaking”

A month ago, the esteemed Danish director Lars von Trier, 66, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, while he was completing the third season of the series he directed, “The Kingdom”. Now, for the first time since the surprising and dramatic disclosure, Von Trier is talking about dealing with the disease, which was already diagnosed four months ago.
“It means I didn’t live up to my expectations because I was sick. Now I want to take a little break and figure out what to do. I hope my condition will improve. It is a disease that cannot be eliminated, and all that can be done is to deal with the symptoms. There’s nothing to do, I have to get used to the fact that I’m shaking. Don’t be ashamed,’ he said.
He also said that he intends to reduce the amount of media interviews, especially around the third and new season of the series “The Kingdom”. As you know, it is a period drama that follows a team of doctors and patients in a haunted hospital. The first season of the series aired sometime in 1994, while the second came three years later.
