Netflix’s most talked about docu: “The Girl in the Picture”
The new docu from the streaming giant has become the hottest topic right now, and it unfolds one of the most unbelievable stories seen in recent years on the small screen about a young girl who has been mysteriously and cleverly murdered
The plot of “The Girl in the Picture” is about the murder of a young woman named Tonya Hughes, who is one day on the side of the road in the city of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Hughes was only twenty at the time of her death, and she worked as a stripper for a number of years. Tonya left behind a two-year-old child, and her husband is decades older than her.
The new docu managed to conquer the top of the rankings and soon became one of the most watched movies on the streaming giant, leaving the audience shocked and surprised. Once Tonya’s body is found, her relatives try to locate her mother, in order to inform her of the tragedy, then it is revealed that this is not her name at all, but the name of a baby girl who died many years ago.
It also turns out that dozens of people have known the young woman by different names along the way, and slowly we are exposed to more and more dark secrets, which make the whole story inconceivable, but many questions continue to haunt and float – why did Tonya change so many names? What was she trying to escape? And of course, how was she murdered?
Tonya’s son has been handed over to the welfare authorities, and the film also deals with him and his personal story. The result is a tragic and shocking mosaic of distorted reality that is hard to believe has indeed happened, which while quite clear from the beginning will not give the viewer a happy ending, it does manage to answer quite a few questions and solve the mystery, at least for the most part.
