Now it’s official: the “Stranger Things” star is coming out of the closet
The young actor Noah Schnapp decided to put an end to the rumors and announce his sexual orientation. “After being scared and deep in the closet for 18 years, I’m happy to come out with my truth and tell my friends, family, and the whole world,” he said
The actor and star of “Strange Things” recently came out in front of his 31 million followers, thus putting an end to the rumors that flooded the swamp for many months. “I finally told my friends and family I was gay, after 18 years in the closet. They just told me they knew,” the 18-year-old star wrote.
He also wrote: “Apparently I’m more like Will than I thought”, when the reference is, as is known, to the character he played in the successful series, which was quite explicitly hinted at in the last season because he is in love with his best friend, Mike. Of course, the actor’s exciting and brave post received millions of likes and hundreds of thousands of enthusiastic and supportive comments in just a short time.
Remember, one of the heartbreaking scenes in the last season of “Stranger Things”, was the moment when Schnapp’s character confessed to his best friend Mike about his feelings for him. On the surface, Will was talking about Mike’s relationship with his partner Ilvan, but in reality he was referring to him and his personal feelings. Will’s sexual preference has been preoccupying the fans of the series for several seasons now, and after the scene in question – almost no viewer thought otherwise.
Schnapp, who until coming out of the closet claimed that his sexual identity was open to interpretation, said that the creators of the Netflix hit, brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, had hinted that Will was gay since the first season. “Now it’s 100 percent clear that he’s gay and he’s in love with Mike. It was a slow arc. I think it’s done so beautifully, because it’s easiest to create a character that just comes out of the closet out of nowhere,” he said.
