Shock in Hollywood: Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss, DJ and favorite dancer from the Ellen DeGeneres show, shot himself in a hotel in Los Angeles

But heavy in the City of Angels, the beloved dancer-DJ also starred in several motion pictures and was a regular contestant on prime-time dance dramas and ballroom dance competitions.

Steven Bos, longtime DJ and dancer and favorite on the Ellen DeGeneres show and former contestant on So You Think You Can Dance, shot himself to death in a Los Angeles hotel room. He was 40 years old when he died.

His wife, Alison Holker Boss, confirmed his death in a statement to People.com.

“With the heaviest heart I have to share because my husband Steven left us,” she said.

“Steven lit up every room he entered. He valued family, friends and community. Above all, leadership with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father and an inspiration to his fans.”

The statement did not include any details about the circumstances of his death.

DeGeneres released a statement on Twitter, along with a photo of her hugging Boss backstage.

“My heart aches,” she wrote, “tWitch was pure love and light. He was my family, and I loved him with all my heart. I will miss him. Please send your love and support to Alison and his beautiful children – Wesley, Maddox and Zaya.”

Other celebrities including Questlab and Kerry Washington also posted words of comfort on social media.

“I have no words. May his family find peace in this dark time. May we all find peace of mind in our daily lives. Every day is a winding road,” Questlab wrote on Instagram.

On the same platform, Washington wrote: “Twitch brought joy and love to people all over the world through music and through dance. My heart is heavy today for his family and all those who knew and loved him.”

Boss started on The Ellen Show in 2014 and was promoted to executive associate producer in 2020.

The program came to an end earlier this year.

Boss was also runner-up on So You Think You Can Dance.

The dancer-DJ has also appeared in films such as Step Up: All In and Magic Mike XXL.

His love for dance permeated all aspects of his life and he aspired to imitate great dancers such as Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire.

“My personal opinion: The greatest of all time would have to be Gene Kelly, man. Gene Kelly, because he’s a man’s man. I love Fred Astaire, but Fred Astaire was so smooth, and it was great. He was so classy Boss told The Associated Press in 2014.

“But Gene Kelly – he can be like someone’s father, who just decided to get up off the couch and dance and clean the kitchen.”

Bose used to post dance videos on TikTok with his wife, who is also a professional dancer, with their children occasionally making guest appearances.
