The reason why Elon Musk changed his name on Twitter – and the connection to Vladimir Putin
Tesla’s CEO has challenged the Russian president, “one on one.”
Tesla CEO and founder of SpaceX, Elon Musk, continues to be involved in Russia’s war in Ukraine. This time, he challenged the Russian president, got involved with the Chechen leader – and changed his name on his Twitter account.

Last Monday, the 50-year-old Musk posted a tweet in which he called on the 69-year-old Russian president to fight against him over Ukraine. “I hereby challenge Vladimir Putin to a one-on-one battle,” Musk said, writing Putin’s name in Russian. “The bet is Ukraine,” he added, writing the name of the country in Ukrainian.
The leader of the Republic of Chechnya, Ramzen Kadyrov – like Putin’s protégé, did not miss the opportunity to respond contemptuously to Musk’s remarks, and sent him a message in Russian – which Musk translated and posted to tens of millions of his followers on Twitter.
“Elon Musk, here’s a tip: do not compare your power to that of Putin. You are not in the same league at all,” wrote Kadyrov, who praised Putin for his greatness. “Vladimir will look unsportsmanlike when he mows down your form.”
The Chechen leader, who is a Muslim country known for torturing and killing homosexuals, went on to joke about the richest man in the world: “You will have to inflate these songs to turn from (the female) Ayalon to the cruel Ayalon you should be.”
