by time news

Korin Elal, one of the most influential composers in Israeli music, who has contributed a variety of hits over the years, such as “I Have No Other Country”, “A Little Country with a Mustache”, “A Song to Sing”, “A Rare Zen” and “Antarctica”, connected us to her musical world. The ‘Artists Edit Hebrew Shabbat’ project, exclusive to 103fm digital, just before it goes on the Barbie stage in Tel Aviv, for a show with a wealth of hits.

Alal, who was born in Tunisia and immigrated to Israel in 1963 when she was 8, burst into consciousness at the end of 1976. This is when she appeared in the musical “Rabbits in Space” by Gideon Kafan and Gidi Shaham. Two years later, in 1978, she participated in the show ‘Beautiful Tropical Land’, along with Matti Caspi, Yehudit Ravitz, Tzila Dagan, the suburban duo and Yorik Ben David. That same year, Elal also recorded the songs ‘The Mammal’, ‘Pregnant Woman’ and ‘Give Me A Day’. The talented singer’s first appearance was in 1979, in the show ‘Scattered Sweets’ and from the show’s songs, only ‘Tomorrow will be a beautiful day’ was recorded.

In 1983, Elal joined the Lipstick band, alongside Moshe Debol on guitars and vocals, Itai Zilber on bass, Danny Makov on drums and Ari Frenkel on keyboards. Together with them she recorded in the summer of 1983 her first album ‘Corinne Allal’, a year later. Elal composed most of the songs on the album, including ‘Baby’, ‘Animal in a Box’ and ‘Bird’, which quickly became real hits. At that time, Elal returned to compose and sing non-rock songs as well, including the song ‘I have no other country’ which she composed to the words of Ehud Manor and also sang background vocals in the original performance. The song was a success performed by Gali Atari and to this day is considered an Israeli classic.

In June 1987, Elal’s second album, ‘Forbidden Fruits’, was released, from which the songs ‘War’, ‘Today is Rising’, ‘Forbidden Fruits’ and ‘Sheep’ were released. Two years later, she released her third album, ‘Antarctica’, arranged and produced by Yehudit Ravitz. The collaboration between the two continued in 1991, in favor of their fourth album, ‘Rare Zen’. After that, and for almost a decade, Elal devoted her time and immense talent to producing albums by other artists. Among them, Gali Atari, Dana International and Carmela Gross. In January 1997, Elal’s new album ‘When It’s Deep’ was released.

In 2001, she embraced the album ‘Crocodile’, which was another step by Allal towards the highest personal and artistic expression of the esteemed creator. In 2004 she released her eighth album – ‘The Blue of the Sky’. 4 years later she released her ninth album called ‘So Simple’, and included 12 songs written by Erez Barzolik, Aggie Mish’ol and Meir Goldberg, among others.

In 2011, Elal released with the girl Seelan Avishar the single ‘Hold It Well’, from her first children’s album. A year later, his second single, ‘The Liar’, was released, and later this year the album ‘Chocolate Rabbits’ was released, which included 8 songs written by poets alongside a new version of Elal’s song ‘Song for Poetry’.

Now, Elal is coming out with a new show and on June 18, 2002 she will perform at the ‘Barbie’ club in Tel Aviv where she will host Miri Mesika and Eran Tzur. To purchase tickets click here.
