1. FC Heidenheim’s opponent in the Conference League playoffs has been decided: it is BK Häcken. The Swedes clearly won their duel in the third qualifying round.
Bundesliga club 1. FC Heidenheim will face BK Häcken in the Conference League playoffs. The Swedish club beat Paide Linnameeskond from Estonia in the third qualifying round. Häcken won the first leg 6:1, and a 1:1 draw in the return leg in Tallinn was enough for the team.
In their first European Cup match in the club’s history, Heidenheim will first have to play away in Sweden on August 22nd. A week later, coach Frank Schmidt’s team will have home advantage.
If Heidenheim prevail and thus reach the league phase of the Conference League, the club will receive additional income of four to five million euros, as CEO Holger Sanwald confirmed to the German Press Agency. “If we are eliminated in the playoffs, then it will only be 750,000 euros.”
