Fodil-Abderhamane Lakehal was found guilty on Saturday of all charges against him, including the manslaughter by firearm of two people. The 24-year-old Laval resident was at the head of a heist that went wrong with a drug trafficker in Montreal in December 2018.

The man had devised a plan to rob a drug trafficker, Davis Arbor. A “harmless” woman had to come to his door, so that his accomplices could then enter his home.

But, the imagined scenario did not unfold as planned on December 24, 2018, on Jean-Talon Street East in Montreal. Mr. Arbor decided “in all likelihood to offer resistance to intruders,” the Crown said during the trial.

Five shots were fired, three of which hit the 38-year-old drug trafficker, who died. Davis Arbor’s wife hid in a kitchen cupboard, and dialed 911.

Fodil-Abderhamane Lakehal’s accomplice and brother-in-law, Marc Hilary Dasilma, was also shot dead.
