Helene Fischer’s advertising for a discount store was not well received by all fans. Nevertheless, she will once again take on the role of brand ambassador in the future.

In 2023, the supermarket chain Lidl celebrated its 50th anniversary. The grocery retailer had shot an elaborate commercial for the occasion. What was special about it: pop star Helene Fischer was in front of the camera for the clip. In the footage, she got out of a tour bus, got a shopping cart and then started dancing in the discount store.

Shortly after the advert was published on Instagram, criticism was pouring in. “It’s an absolute cheek on Lidl’s part! They’re dramatically increasing their prices and at the same time financing stars,” complained one user. “Helene Fischer is definitely not making a video for Lidl for pocket money.” Another commentator even went a step further: “After this advert and its costs, I’d rather go to Aldi!” The background to this debate was the price fluctuations that had made Lidl into the headlines at the time.

Helene Fischer apparently hasn’t ruled out advertising for a brand in the future. The Berlin start-up Wholey is on a mission to develop the perfect breakfast for a healthy diet – and this has clearly struck a chord with the musician.

As the company announced in response to t-online’s inquiry, the 40-year-old will not only invest in the company, but will also act as a brand ambassador. “E“An advertising campaign with Ms. Fischer in the lead role is being planned. We cannot reveal any details about this yet. Her involvement as a brand ambassador is part of her role as a shareholder in the company. We cannot reveal any contractual details,” the statement said.

In addition to Helene Fischer, Jürgen Klopp was also convinced by the idea: “We were in contact with both of them for several months and were able to inspire them with our mission of a better breakfast, so that they independently decided to become part of our company,” explains a company spokesperson.

Jürgen Klopp revealed to “Bild” that he and his wife had decided to make the investment: “My wife Ulla and I have resolved to grow old healthy and fit. In our eyes, nutrition plays a central role in this.” According to t-online information, however, unlike Helene Fischer, there are currently no plans for the former football coach to be used as the face of the advertising campaign.

Jürgen Klopp has often done advertising in the course of his career. He has appeared in commercials for the car manufacturer Opel, for Philips razors and for the beer brand Warsteiner, among others.
