“He’ll be fine”: Richard Gere was hospitalized in Mexico after contracting pneumonia

by time news

Actor Richard Gere contracted pneumonia while on vacation with his family on Mexico’s golden beaches and was hospitalized at a local hospital over the weekend, but the good news is that he “will be fine,” according to international gossip sites.

Sources familiar with the situation told TMZ that the actor was staying near Nuevo Vallarta this week, where he celebrated his wife Alejandra Silva’s 40th birthday with their children. Alejandra even published a picture of her and the children at the beach on Thursday.

But it turns out that not all that glitters is gold: according to the sources, even before the family trip, Richard developed a “bad cough” that continued even while he was there.

The sources stated that the cough became so bad that he had to be checked into a hospital, where he was diagnosed with pneumonia and hospitalized overnight. It’s not clear what day he arrived at the hospital, but we’re told it was during his vacation – which is still ongoing.

Fortunately, Geer was released the next day with a prescription for antibiotics to ward off the illness. For now, our sources say he’s doing much better.

Interestingly, Alejandra herself hinted that she was also sick and the family dog was infected. In an Instagram post from Thursday, she said the whole family had been sick for 3 weeks.

However, her story seems to confirm what the sources say about Richard’s condition: he is perfectly fine, and can be seen wearing a mask and walking with one of his children on the beach. In the description, Alejandra noted that it was “another beach day for them.”

So far no response has been received from the actor. The system wishes a speedy recovery.
