Large-scale operation in the Börde district. Five fire departments responded to Flechtingen on Monday night because of a burning garbage can at a single-family home. But when the emergency services arrived on site, a nasty surprise awaited them: the roof structure of the house was on fire.

A blessing in disguise: The residents noticed the fire in time and were able to escape uninjured. The 80 emergency services managed to prevent the flames from spreading to neighboring houses. However, the fire house is uninhabitable for the time being.

The police arrived at the scene of the fire that night. A spokesman for the Börde district: “According to initial findings, the fire could have started at a wooden shack for garbage cans. The cause of the fire is still unclear and is part of the police investigation.”
A fundraising campaign for the homeless family has now started. By Tuesday morning, supporters had already donated more than 11,000 euros.
