All his work has been reduced to nothing. Since last September, Carly Burd, a mother of three living in Harlow (England), has been helping people in need. By transforming her garden into a vegetable garden, she offers organic fruit and vegetables to benefit recipients, retirees and people with low incomes. More than 1,600 people have already benefited from its help. But her vegetable garden has recently been sabotaged, reports the BBC.

The land was covered in salt when 300 onions had just been planted. The soil today is uncultivable. “Not everything I planted will grow. And I can’t replant because it won’t grow back. So all the hours and hours of work that we spent in it are gone. […] But, you know what, you won’t stop me because I’m going to pick it all up and I’m going to keep going,” Carly Burd said in a video posted to her TikTok account on Wednesday.

More than 247,000 euros in donations

The video quickly went viral. It has already been seen by more than 4.5 million people. The British therefore bet on this buzz to start a fundraiser and thus collect donations to relaunch its solidarity vegetable garden.

Nearly 14,000 people have already made a donation. This Friday afternoon, the kitty showed 227,470 pounds collected, or more than 247,000 euros. With this money, Carly Burd intends to buy equipment to restore her vegetable garden: “I want us to be able to make this project work, it will be so good for our community, we really need it. »
