The Head of State, Patrice Talon is making a working visit to China from Thursday August 31 to September 3. During his stay on Chinese soil, the Beninese Head of State will have talks with several senior political figures and Chinese entrepreneurs. The President of the Republic will discuss with his Chinese counterpart, XI Jinping the Sino-Beninese cooperation, which is more than 50 years old. The two Heads of State will take stock and consider prospects. According to the program of his trip, President Talon will be received on the morning of Friday, September 1, 2023, by the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Leji Zhao and the Premier of the State Council, Qiang Li. After the exchanges, they will lay a wreath in front of the Monument to the People’s Heroes in Tian’anmen Square. It is in the afternoon of this same Friday that he will be received by his counterpart, XI Jinping. After this meeting, a working session extended to members of the two delegations is planned. “The bi-partite meeting will end with the signing, with the Chinese side, of several agreements to strengthen economic ties between the two countries”, specifies the Presidency’s Communication Department. Patrice Talon will visit the headquarters of the China-Africa Development Fund and several Chinese companies as part of this visit. He is also expected to take part in the opening ceremony of the 2023 China International Trade Fair for Services.
