Here comes the World Cup again to India
India will host the 2025 Women’s World Cup. This is the fourth time that India is set to host the biggest women’s cricket tournament.
India had previously hosted the World Cup in 1978, 1997 and 2013. Australia became the champions all these three times. The defending champions are also the Aussies.
Venues for all major ICC tournaments from 2024 – 2027 have also been announced. This was decided at the ICC Annual Conference held in Birmingham.
The ICC has announced that four women’s tournaments will be held in four years starting with the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh.
This is the first time that Bangladesh is going to host an ICC major tournament. But before this it hosted the Men’s Knockout Trophy in 1998. It also co-hosted the 2011 Men’s World Cup with India and Sri Lanka.
England will host the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup. Sri Lanka can host the tournament only if they qualify for the 2027 Champions Trophy.
Meanwhile, next year’s Men’s World Cup will be held in India. Apart from 2023, India will also be the venue for the cricket epic in 2031.
The schedule of global tournaments from 2024 to 2031 was announced earlier by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The new tournament schedule will begin with the ICC T20 World Cup in 2024.
The latest reports suggest that the 2024 T20 World Cup will be jointly hosted by the West Indies and the United States. The 2024 World Cup will be held with 20 teams.
The number of teams will also increase in the ICC World Cup in 2027 and 2031. 14 teams will participate in the tournament. There are currently 10 teams competing in the World Cup.
The 2022 T20 World Cup is the biggest upcoming ICC tournament. The current champions Australia are also the hosts of the World Cup.
The group stage matches will begin on October 16. 13th November finals.
