jpnn.comJAKARTA – The Supreme Leader of the Catholic Church throughout the world and Head of State of the Vatican, Pope Francis will make an apostolic journey to Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Timor Leste and Singapore from September 2 to 13, 2024.

Indonesia will be the first country in Pope Francis’ series of visits to the Asia Pacific region, namely from September 3 to 6, 2024.

Next, the Pope will visit Port Moresby (Papua New Guinea) and Vanimo from 6 to 9 September 2024, Dili (Timor Leste) from 9 to 11 September 2024 and Singapore from 11 to 13 September 2024.

During his four-day visit to Indonesia, Pope Francis will be welcomed by Indonesian President Joko Widodo in a welcome ceremony at the Merdeka Palace.

Next, the Pope will attend a meeting with government circles, civil society, and the diplomatic corps in the hall of the State Palace where the President of the Republic of Indonesia and Pope Francis will deliver speeches.

In other confirmed agenda plans, there is a meeting with bishops, priests, deacons, consecrated persons, seminarians and catechists at the Cathedral Church of Saint Mary of the Assumption.

“Then, the Pope attended a meeting with young scholas at Grha Pemuda. During his visit, the Pope will attend an interfaith meeting at the Istiqlal Mosque,” said Father Anthonius Gregorius A.Lalu, Pr, Deputy Media Coordinator of the Committee for the Visit of the Holy Father Francis in a press statement on Saturday (31/8).

The highlight of this visit will be the holding of Holy Mass at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (GBK) where Pope Francis will deliver a homily/reflection. (flo/jpnn)
